Established in 1924, York Bros had been the Northampton area's premier coach operator for many years with regular deliveries of new vehicles and several depots located throughout the county, but only the head office at Cogenhoe now remains to accommodate a fleet of about forty. Most vehicles are named after battleships, a practice introduced in 1943 and still continued under the ownership of the Bowen Group, to whom the York family sold out in 1998. The Yorks fleet now operates on the same Operator's Licence as Bowen's Applebys operation in Lincoln, but is effectively a separate unit with its own management; as can be expected the company works closely with fellow Bowen Group subsidiary Jeffs.
